Both are big-name talents with impressive NHL resumes, but it is a fairly large chunk of cash to shell out for players who are in the latter half of their careers. The biggest debate for the Kraken will be guys like James van Riemsdyk and Jordan Eberle. But there’s still 10 forwards signed to NHL contracts next season: a great start for the new roster. There are a few big contracts here, and a lot of RFA negotiations to go through. SEATTLE KRAKEN ROSTER FULL
This roster is projected to earn 105 standings points using roster builder, which was high enough to finish second in the Western Conference team in the NHL’s last full 82-game season back in 2018-19. Under the same expansion protection rules, the Kraken could be posted to do something similar with their inaugural roster. Vegas themselves provided the blueprint for how the Kraken could compete in the NHL as an expansion team, making the Stanley Cup Final in their very first season in the league. The Kraken will be picking 30 new players from the NHL’s various rosters, excluding the recently expanded Vegas Golden Knights. If it turns out that he isn’t the highest rated overall player on the Kraken in NHL 22, he will definitely be the highest rated defenseman that they have.The Seattle Kraken are set to introduce their newest roster of players at Wednesday night’s expansion draft, and it isn’t the craziest idea that they could be competing for a Stanley Cup right away. I would be surprised if Mark Giordano wasn’t the highest rated overall player in NHL 22 on the Seattle Kraken. He will occasionally throw in a few goals here and there and will help keep games close due to his defensive abilities.
I strongly believe that Mark Giordano will be named the captain of the Seattle Kraken and will be a leader for the young team on and off the ice. Offensively, Giordano isn’t going to produce the Seattle Kraken 20+ goals, but that was not the Kraken’s intent on drafting him in the first place. Defensively, Giordano will still make great plays and help keep the puck from getting to the net which is always a recipe for success for winning. Leadership isn’t the only thing Giordano will bring to the table though. Despite being 37 years old and at the tail end of his career, Mark Giordano brings a massive amount of leadership to the Kraken. The team did manage to snag a few diamonds in the rough though and while I don’t think they will have a very successful inaugural season, they do have players on their team that will make impacts each and every game that they play. Seattle will be making their debut in the NHL later this year when the 2021-2022 NHL season officially kicks off this October. Much of the reason for this had to do with the salary cap, but the 2021 Expansion Draft just didn’t have that same feeling the 2017 NHL Expansion draft did with the Vegas Golden Knights. A lot of players that were taken for the Seattle Kraken were leaked prior to the draft and a lot of the “big” named players that were available, like Vladimir Tarasenko and Carey Price, ended up not being drafted. The 2021 NHL Expansion Draft wasn’t the most exciting. Now that the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft for the Seattle Kraken has come and gone, we can take a look at the players that were drafted and get a pretty clear picture at to which of those players will be the highest rated in NHL 22.
